Eileen Chong holds a Bachelor in Arts (Honours) and a Diploma in Education from the Nanyang Technological University, National Institute of Education, Singapore.
She taught English, Literature and Drama as a high school teacher in Singapore.
Eileen obtained a Master of Letters at the University of Sydney in 2010, studying extensively with the poet Judith Beveridge.
She was a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Western Sydney on a full Australian Postgraduate Award scholarship from 2011 to 2012 under the supervision of Dr Ivor Indyk and Dr Kate Fagan. She left her academic studies to pursue her path in poetry.
Eileen Chong has been conducting poetry and creative writing workshops for schools and for adults since 2010. Schools and organisations she has worked with include: Red Room Poetry, Hornsby Girls’ High, Methodist Ladies College, and the Bundanon Trust.
Eileen is a warm, enthusiastic and engaging speaker. Her workshops are professional, tailor-made and dynamic. She genuinely enjoys interacting with people and readers, and is able to cater to all levels of abilities.
She is based in Sydney, Australia. She is available for readings, lectures and poetry workshops across Australia and internationally.
